is it 2wd or 4wd?...
automatic or stick?

I am going to assume automatic...

if it is 4 wheel drive,it will have a 727,this transmission is almost bullet proof, but since you cannot switch the bell housing, you are limited to the engines, you could bolt a 273,318,340,or 360 to this transmission and it will take all you throw at it...

727s are also available for big blocks(383,400,413,426,440)

if it is 2wd it could have a 727,or a 904,the 904 is strong, but nowhere near as strong as the 727,the biggest benefit of the 904 is the lower first gear(2.76 VS 2.46)you could bolt a 273,318,340,or 360 to a 904,with the smaller engines(273/318)it will last around 200-250K miles, with the 340 you can expect 150K,and the 360 100K,all these estimates are assuming light duty use,if you hammer it regularly, you can expect to reduce its life by half...
