O.K. Fred C. Dates from early Sept. 1942. He is within the first 80,000 or so made and as such, has the smaller fuel filler neck which is lower down on the sheet metal.

I assume he has the original 30 gallon tank. Lord knows it carries at least 30 gallons.

It takes forever and a day to fill Fred because I can't turn the automatic gas pump on - I have to hold it e'er so carefully and let the fuel dribble out at a snails pace to keep from tripping the auto-shut-off.

Is this because the angle of the fuel filler neck is so low (i.e. more of a straight shot into the tank than the later, higher, & larger diameter necks) or because some fume escape valve somewhere on the tank is blocked up?

It takes forever! to get 15 gallons in, I can't imagine how long it will take to fill the whole tank!
