Rear Main Seal

As I was installing the rear main seal on my 230 flathead 6, I noticed the seal lips barely touch the crankshaft. It almost looks like they are not touching at all. The the crankshaft surface is a bit rough, even though it was cleaned up by the machinist, so with the poor fit and the rough surface I'm afraid that the rear seal is going to start leaking in short order.

Can anyone tell me if there is a fix for this? A one-piece sleeve cannot be put on because of the flywheel flange, but what about a two-piece sleeve? Or an epoxy that can be polished smooth?

Any input is appreciated.
