Ken,
Back in the fall of '96 the family that bought some land across the street started to clear about 3 acres of hardwood, mostly maple, oak, hemlock, walnut, etc. average trunk diameter 30". They were hauling the wood away to be DUMPED! I offered to pay for a load, and the owner said bring a six of BUD. I started up the PW, idled over about 300 feet and backed down a muddy slope about six feet off the road. Loaded the PW up with 4, 6, 8 foot logs of fresh cut wet wood, 2 feet above the cab, tailgate down. Easily 2.5 cords once split. I have the overload springs, and they were flat.
The guys helping me load the truck could not believe the amount of wood piled 6 feet high on the bed. They were stunned when I slowly pulled up the embankment and onto the road in two wheel low,(front hubs unlocked). My guess is about 5000# payload.
Eddie
