An old mechanic friend, now deceased (from natural causes), used to run a hose from the exhaust pipe of a running vehicle into the opening of a gas tank that needed welding. He would run the engine for 5 minutes or so, to fill the tank with carbon monoxide. I have seen him weld several tanks in this manner. But don't blame me if it backfires!!
