I know a lot of you here shop Ebay and have been doing so for longer than I have so I thought I would throw this out for comment.

I bought a part from an Ebay vendor on the east coast (not a Power-Wagon part). I am in the Midwest. The auction ended over 5 weeks ago and it took 3 weeks to get my part. All during this time the vendor was unreachable by phone and was very slow at returning email. I had to email him twice in order to get a total from him and an address to send the money to. When the part arrived, I was not at home at the time. The next day I had to completely destroy the packaging in order to open it. The part enclosed was not the part that he had pictured in the auction. It would work, but the part I bid on was slightly different and harder to find, in my opinion, and this is why I bid on it. His answer to this problem, after a long email wait was that, It will work." I finally reached him by phone and explained that I realized that it would work but it was not the part that I thought I was bidding on. His solution was for me to tape the package back up and refuse it (UPS). This of course was impossible and UPS comfirmed that he would have to send a Call Tag for me to return it with no shipping expenses to myself. I left a message on his answering maching to this effect. A week later I emailed him and asked: (1.) Am I going to receive a Call Tag or am I to send return this part C.O.D? (2.) Am I going to receive the part that I bid on or should I expect a refund. Another long wait. Finally an email sayiing that the Call Tag had allready been sent.

That last email was received a week ago. Still no call tag. This guy has a business of selling Jeep parts and has a lot of feedback. Considering the amount of feedback, a small percent of it is negative. He always leaves a smart a-- response to the negative feedback. Now I am afraid to send the part back even if I do get a Call Tag for fear of never seeing my money.

My question is: Should I use the Dispute Resolution offered by Ebay, or go right to filing a Fraud Complaint through them? Either way, once this is settled, I will let his name be known here for anyone else who may be shopping for Jeep parts.

The vast majority of the stuff that I have pruchased through Ebay has cost a lot less than comparible items that I find locally (if I can find them). Every other vender that I have done business with has been great.
