Yes, the positive ground system is correct for these trucks. An original truck would have a 6 volt system.
As for the winch, a rebuilt MU2 would probably be several hundred dollars (I've commonly seen $500 - $700, if I remember correctly). If you don't already have the PTO unit that mounts on the transmission, along with the PTO driveshaft, those would be a $200 - $300 extra as wellj, depending on condition. But it sounds like you may have those, if the truck has a pump on the front.
