Bob, I am running the original 6-volt AutoLite equipment in my '47. I have been using 6-volt in this truck for about 20 years with no problems. The battery is a generic "Farm and Fleet" brand. I have gotten what I thought to be an incredible 7 years of use out of one of these batteries. Before I bought the truck, someone had switched over to a 12-volt generator and accessories. Untill I found the correct 6-volt parts, I was always having trouble with the 12-volt system. Mainly burning points. The 6-volt starter seems to crank fine even during our midwest winters.
