hi norm, i have an early 46 wdx(3 digit serial #). the vin plate on mine is located on the pass. door piller. this should have the model and serial # on it. you can tell other things about the truck also. the serial # on the tag should match the serial # on the frame rail. on mine it is located onthe d.s. just above and to the rear of the frt. shock mt. they are rather large about 1/2 inch high and several inches long.not hard to find if it's not too rusted. also if you have the wheels off check the dates on them. they should be close to the year you suspect the truck to be. this is of course the truck is'nt an assembly of different year trucks. hopes this helps,jim.
