At work they had me do a trial of 2 different foreign grinders as they were looking for cheaper replacements for the ones we currently have. The one was allright but wasn't set up for what we normally run and the other wouldn't hold tolerance...and this was brand new.

After a month we got together with management and they asked my opinion. I told them it wasn't a fair comparison as they didn't have a NEW version of our current machine. They kept saying our current brand(US made) was too costly($12,000 as opposed to the $7000 for the imports)

I told them what I thought and added that this was like asking me which smells better, a pile hog crap or this pile of cow manure. One IS not going to smell as bad, but it doesn't change what they will always be.

They have since had to work on that machine 3 times in 1 year. Our other US made go at least 4 years before things start to wear. Kevin
