I had a similar problem with my 60 WM300. I couldn't figure out what the heck the problem was and I had done pretty much the same things you have. I ask a friend who I believe is about the best mechanic in these here parts. He told me to change the spark plugs. I told him that couldn't be the problem because they aren't that old. He ask if it had been idleing a lot and I told him it had. I start all my trucks up about once a month at least and let them get up to running temp. He told me that these old trucks don't have the spark that the newer ones do and carbon will build up a lot quicker. I bought some spark plugs and after removing the first one I knew it was the problem. It was jet black.
I noticed you didn't say you had changed the spark plugs recently.
