The 258 started life as a AMC engine. It is now a Chrysler engine by proxy. It is the in-line 6 used in the Jeep CJ and cherokee.
I don't have the specs on it but a quick trip to the salvage yard and a few measurements should answer your size question. It is surely no bigger than the 251
in your PW now. Measure from the tranny mounting edge of the block forward.
There are some performance upgrades that can be made and added to the 251/265 to increase at least another 20hp or more.....
Dual carbs and intake manifold(available)headers, cam, drop-in electronic points conversion, electric radiator fan, electric water pump. check it out
