The adapter I mentioned has a diode, not a resistor. It prevents current from flowing the wrong way. My alternator is self exciting
and I can watch it's charge rate on my meter as I rev the engine. I have hooked up my Fluke voltage meter to the system and have no battery drain. Perhaps we are talking about different adapters...
