I found that the one wire self exciting alternator starts charging at a set RPM. I got to thinking and tested my tractor with the one wire I put on it, it was never charging. They only turn on at about 3000 RPM. You should use a Alternator that has an internal regulator but still takes power from ignition to excite or turn on.
