O.k.. 1942 WC-54. More i get into it, the more i think the engine might be a rebuilt 230 swapped in from something else.

Flat I.d. spot on drivers side of block has been sandblasted or milled and a small portion of the original number is barely visible, will take a strong directional light to read it. 4 digit number scribed over it towards the front of the flat spot.

converted to 12 volt with generator
some non-original air cleaner - not oil-bath
fuel pump removed and a pipe run back to electric pump at the tank. Pressure regulator installed in the line in the engine compartment.

It's been tuned and runs, idle seems hight to me and the distinctive unburned gas in the exhaust tells me it's too "rich" - fuel is spilling over the float I guess?

Anywho. How can I tell what carburetor it is? Not a Zenith, Clearly labeled Carter Ball & Ball, but which one? Only other i.d. is that it was made in St. Louis for Chrysler and assorted casting numbers. Air filter sits right on top, no elbow at all.

Help?!?
