I like the centered axle better than the offset axle. Installing the axle itself is a bolt in job. Connecting the drive shaft is not much of a problem Here is what you need to do.

1) Buy the yoke that fits onto the emergency brake drum and install it.
2) Trim the ears off the current offset yoke (or it will catch objects when your off road.)
3) Measure and have your drive line shortend or lengthed as necessary.

I put a NP 200 (PW transfer case) in my WC 53 Carryall and Dave Cirillo did steps 1 and 2 for me. (He is known as DC on this forum). I know that it works fine.

I like the centered defferential for a couple of reasons:
1) It is quiter as you are not transferring the power through 2 90 degree bends in the t case. Power now goes straight trough. This also means less wear and tear in the T case.
2) You are less likely to break the rear axle. The PW short side axle is prone to breakage since it can not twist as much while the long side can. (All axles twist slightly when power is applied. in the PW the short one takes a beating)
