Sounds like you and I are at about the same stage in the restoration process.
I ordered a set of the Michelin 9.00 x 16 XZL's from Bill's Tire in Pachino, CA. Boy are these nice tires. 36.4 inches in diameter and not too wide. Bill's is very good to deal with. At $165 each they are a bargain ( local guys quoted $370 each ). I'll be mounting them on the original Budd rims.
Keep the faded paint up and the old rubber down.
