I just had my Powermaster rebuilt after 4000 miles. My battery kept going dead. I took it to a good shop and they tested it and took it apart right in front of me. It had 0 output when tested. They checked further and it appeared that the regulator was bad. They replaced it and ran it again. Again no output. They played with it for a while and figured out it would not turn on until the thing was turning over 4000 RPM. Another guy in the shop immediately knew what was the problem and replaced the stator. Sure enough it kicked right in and put out 100 amps. I walked out with a new stator and voltage regulator for $38. They stated that there are stators out there that are designed so that they will not kick in until over 4000 RPM. Which means your not charging quite a bit of the time, therfore dead batteries. 4000 RPM is the alternator RPM not engine RPM.

I put the alternator back in and took a drive Sunday. I got about 4 miles from home and all of a sudden I had antifreeze all over the windshield. I pulled over and found the fan belt neatly wrapped around and in the fan. Took it out checked it and put it back in and headed home. This morning I added antifreeze and water and headed down the road. Got about a mile and saw the voltage drop and the engine temp started to go up. Pulled over and found the belt in the fan again. This time it was broken. Apparently it was nicked the first time and I did not see it and it broke. So I walked home and got the car and headed to buy a belt. Got one, put it in and headed for work. You might say a 20 minute drive ended up being almost 2 hours. Called my wife when I got to work and said she could find her car in the Zips parking lot. I was not going to leave the Carryall there all day and I was not going to walk that again. So I have to get it tonight. Moral of the story, double check your work. You may think you have it right but you don't.

My daughter called when I got to work and said it was time to go get some caffine. I told her what happened. She said you are driving since she does not get to ride in the Carryall too often. She liked the attention when we pulled into the coffee shop. It sure is nice having your grown daughter working right across the street from you. We seem to have coffee or go for a walk a couple times a week. My wife is happy for me but wishes she could see her that often.
