What you are calling contact pattern, I was calling gear mesh pattern. There is a compound that can be used on the teeth to see the contact pattern but since mine was torn apart for rebuild, and all the gears were dry, I just used grease. A small dap of grease on a couple of teeth, rotate the gears, then look down and see whether the teeth are meshing to deep, or just bearly touching, or some where in the middle. What you want is someplace in the middle. Robert
