I'm finally getting back to working on my M37 and I'm wondering about the PTO driving the front winch. My setup looks sort of cobbled together and I'm wondering if it's stock. There's a transmission PTO that drives a shaft that runs back to another gearbox that has a front output and a rear output. It has its own lever to control it, separate from the one that works the transmission PTO. That rear gearbox has a sprocket on the rear end, like would maybe drive a rear winch on a wrecker (but mine isn't hooked up to anything). The front output drives the front winch via a long driveshaft with 3 sections to it. The U-joints make rather sharp angles and are badly worn, but the winch does turn.

Is this how it's supposed to be, or does the transmission PTO normally drive the front winch directly?
