You could be getting spark, have the firing order correct, and not have the plug wires in the right berth on the cap. If you haven't already tried this: Bring #1 cylinder up on the compression stroke and confirm that the rotor is pointing to where you have the #1 wire plugged in. I had the same problem after doing points & condenser and I was off one position!
