Today I changed Fred C.'s oil for the second time since I got him last June. I have put about 300 miles on him between changes. Now that he is tuned and has good tires I will be putting more miles on him which prompts me to ask a few questions. Bare in mind, as far as I know, Fred has his original engine.
1) I was taught to change the oil filter every other oil change - is that adequate for the Dodge system or should I do it every oil change?
2) 3 months or 3,000 miles, but I doubt even though I will drive him more, I will achieve 3,000 in a year, so 3 months? What if he sits for 3 months and gets maybe 100 miles or less?
3) Any additives like Marvel Mystery Oil or something that can make life easier for a 60 year old veteran?
4) Is there ANY way to drain the oil cannister when changing the filter and not get oil all over the distributor or starter?
