what year engine you had. Be sure to get the right pump for your year, ie. by-pass or non-by-pass. Pre 1951 were non-by-pass, after that were by-pass. When you pull the old pump, look on the pump gasket surface for a by-pass hole (the only non-bolt hole), and then check the block face for a corrosponding hole. If in doubt, go with a by-pass pump.
