I have been working on a B1 2wd dually project for a bit and still need rear fender extensions. I had been planing to use some extra rear fenders, cut down and welded back together for the 6 inch wide extensions. A follow Plymouth owner referred me to a metal shop about 70 miles away out in the boonies. I had seen photos of the work he did on the my friend 39 convert and it was awesome. Drove down to the shop, fenders in hand along with photos of all the pieces I needed. I was greeted by 4 bathtub porsches, another exotic and a 51 Dodge all getting major metal work. He looked at the fenders, said yeah could do the cut and weld, but then you have a long weld to do and lots of finish work. Why not just make the fender extensions new ? Cheaper and will look better with a lot less work. He looked at the fender, took a piece of scrap, made a flange in the brake. Walked over to a manual shrinker and formed a sample fender while I watched. Then took it out to compare to the factory fender. The radius was a perfect match and not a mark on the outside surface. No rulers, no power tools just a lot of skill, experience and a good eye. I can hardly wait to see the finished product.
