Winch Drum Problem

Well today I started t disassemble my winch , everything inside the case is in excellent shape . The drum on the other hand is a problem , the sliding clutch and drum have been welded together. Anyone ever encountered this before ? Anyone try to save their drum ?
Thoughts ?
I know I can get a replacement new and or used but I would like to use as much as possibile from the truck.
