It doesn't surprise me that "3 Michelin dealers never heard of them". Sometimes I think low IQ and narrowmindedness may be a prerequisite to be a tire dealer. Actually, I know a great tire dealer who sold me a set of 9.00R16 XZLs for about $300 each, new.
XZLs are a great tire for someone that want s an aggressive mud tire that doesn't howl excessively on the highway, and that wears slower than the XL. Highly recommended. The 9.00R16 XZL is 36.5" tall and 10.3" wide. In Europe it's called a 255/100R16; over there one can also buy and 11.00R16 XZL which is 11.3" wide (XLs are 10.9" wide) and the same 38.7" tall.
