If it didn't leak there before, my guess is the float is set to high. It should just touch the needle when measuring using the float tool in the kit. You should check that first.

Turning the air screw in leans the air/fuel mixture, your lean on your adjustment. Once you get your leak fixed, back out the screw until the engine speeds up and runs smooth, take a mark, continue backing out until it begins to slow down, turn the screw in until it speeds up, take a mark, then adjust to the center of both marks.
