And if you compress two 1/2 (7/16) plates to the rear crossmember with 4 (3/4"heads) top grade fine thread bolts... I don't see why it wouldn't support 10k. The receiver tube needs to be welded into one of the plates by a hitch shop to be sure the correct strength is configured(types of welds, welding material, & any reinforcements), but once you get it in place it looks like it would be stronger than the classV bolt ons that I see everyday on pickups. The hitch (clevis) pin thing does not sound strong enough to me. You need a good, strong, tight, secure fastening of the receiver (basicly an extension of the frame) on the front AND rear to support the torgue and kinetic energy that accompanies starting, stopping, and the sway of a loaded trailer. The trailer/hitch guy should be able to talk about this though, and alleviate any fear of a double clevis pin config on a heavy duty trailer. Guess I got to split the Royalties with ya :)
