I'm getting ready to replace the mounts under my '49 cab. I'm going to use 2x4's up front, with rubber from a small used tire underneath and on top of the wood block. According to my measurements, this will restore the original total thickness stated in the Best of Forum posting by Clint Dixon.

We'll see if it works.
