If anyone ever heard of the General Discussion Board at subguns.com. Some called it the General Disgustion Board. Freedom of Speech was held up on a pedestal. So much so that we did not ban racist speech, dirty pics, name calling fights, and so on. The First Amendment came above just about all else. If it wasn't illegal or jeopardized other users, it was allowed. We didn't even need a mod until the trolls did numerous denial of service attacks and posted personal info on other users there. Eventually legalities and other issues forced the reins to be tightened until the board collapsed from PC whining. It is defunct now and a more heavily modded board replaced it.
My point is this. From what I've seen here, this board needs more modding like we all need a hole in the head. I've never seen overall a more polite and courteous group of folks. OK, so occassionally there's a slip or harsh word or some other no-no. So what? It's going to happen unless heavy censure and registration is envoked, and even then it will not totally address the problem.
My advice is to not change a thing here. It isn't needed.
