"Brownie" stands for "Brown-Lipe", a company that was bought by Spicer. They make auxiliary transmissions in 5,6, 8 and 9 series. Mine is 5831B. It's about the size of a regular 4 spd like a NP420, though it has 1.75" shafts and is HEAVY, about 145 lb. The biggest ones used to be used with semi type heavy trucks with 4 times 4 or 5 times 4, before they invented Roadrangers which have an auxiliary transmission built in to the main one.
They say I have a good memory.
