wdx frt.knuckle

thanks for all the help on my previous quest.about o.d. tranny options. now my new question.on the frt.knuckle on the inside toward the bottom there are plugs screwed into the axle housing(the part where the wipers ride). are they for screwing in a grease fitting? to drain water? any ideas?thanks ,jim.
