I had a new stainless exaust installed on My '58 W300M. I had the tailpipe extended past the transfer case and the muffler put on just behind the transfer case, and the angled piece dumping out just in front of the axle. He used "soft" hangers instead of the rigid frame mounted ones that are original. I asked why the "soft" hangers. The motor is mounted using rubber dampeners, if you dont also dampen the vibrations and allow for some flex in the exaust system you put a lot of strain on the exaust manifold which may lead to cracking. HHMMMM.... How many cracked and broken 230/251 exaust manifolds are out there? Just a thought.
