From what I could make out on the doorpost tag, this 1970 W-500 has a NP435 tranny and a RSC axle mod. HI41.
Is this the front or rear axle ? If so, what type is it ?
Never have used a NP435 tranny, is it a good durable, dependable tranny ? Are there any cons associated with the NP435 tranny ? Are PTOs for it plentiful or reasonably priced ?
This truck has E50 stamped in a model block on the doorpost but, I can't make out what it represents.
This truck has no military markings or tags that I can find and it does not say W-500 anywhere on the truck but appears to have maybe been a army or airforce vehicle. I assume it is a W-500 as the front axle is a 2-piece bolted together at the diff. and it says 20,000 GRVW on the doorpost. It does have the 500 series marque on the fender.
What series of the "Dodge technical service manual" would I need for a 500 series ,1970 2-ton 4X4 truck ? What are the best sources for finding W-500 material ? Thanks,RDavis
