This is funny, Russ. I have the exact same setup on my 1949 PW in the front to load heavy things on trailers. It works great. I loaded my 1969 IH 4x4 crewcab chassis onto a trailer while it was in gear, didn't even notice.

The rear mounted winch is on the 1969 IH crewcab. It is a huge Braden PTO winch, driven by a PTO on the transfer case. I am mounting the winch under the bed, it hangs way down, but is directly behind and above the rear axle, so it is pretty well protected. With a 164" wheelbase, this isn't a rockcrawler anyway! The fairlead is going exactly where yours did. I went to the Warn wesite, their fairlead is $117. I was hoping I could do better, being a cheapskate.
Anyway, do you know where I can get winch info on the web? This Braden is larger than the one on my 1949 PW and the mounts point straight down, making the winch stick up higher than a PW one. I will have to get the numbers off the case. It has an aluminum end plate on the gearbox, also. THis makes me think it is newer than my PW winch.
Stay warm
Dave
PS Supposed to be 40 degrees tomorrow, may have to ditch work and do truck stuff!!!
