Which vehicle do you have the rear winch mounted on and what winch is it? I have front and rear winches on my '87 Cummins Diesel, and use the rear mount the most. I have an old Hickey Sidewinder on the rear and a Warn 8274 on the front. I bought a Warn roller fairlead from Six States in Rock Springs for the rear, cut a hole in the middle of the rear bumper (where the license plate normally mounts) and bolted the fairlead to the bumper. It works great. Another trick I used with my '49 Power Wagon was to mount a piece of channel iron with a welded on hitch ball below the front bumper halves, hitch my flatbed trailer to the front ball, and use the PTO winch to drag heavy objects onto the trailer. I easily moved a 12-foot diameter by 20-foot tall tank entirely by myself this way. I also loaded a dead '48 Power Wagon with snow plow using my '49 Power Wagon this way.
