Yep. When I completely rebuilt the brake system in my '47 a couple of winters ago, I yanked the aluminum pistons out of the new cylinders and good old iron ones went back in. All got a good coating of Castrol Red Rubber Grease in the process.
Between the pistons you sent to me, and those I dug out of old cylinders, I have enough to keep two trucks operational for as long as I will be able to drive them.
