Greetings all, Back in August I posted about a problem I was having with the turn signals: Everything initially worked well with the turn signals, but now the pilot light turns on when I turn on the ignition key and remains on until I turn the key off (not much of an indicator). I have installed two flasher units (both 550's). Each worked well for the first dozen times or so, then the pilot light just stayed on whether or not the turn signals were being used.
It turned out that the problem was just that the flasher units (NAPA 550 12V 32-CP Max6 33620, and Eaton Bussman Series 12V 32-CP Max6 550 UNP) were failing. It seems that the new flashers arent straight thermal/mechanical; the part that controls the pilot light is electronic and has a resister and transistor. The transistor in the one I took apart had failed. The solution was to install a new old stock Wagner 550 heavy duty flasher. Its been working without fail for several hundred miles now.
