Here is a inexpensive angle finder (also available from Rockler, I think little less $$)
It is accurate to the tenth of a degree.
Magnetic, so it can be attached to a driveline, flange or whatever.
Zero it out at any reference point, set it on another location (in your head, add/subtract 90 degrees as needed) shim your part and continue knowing the alignment is spot on.
