Door Latch Mechanism

Hi All,

I'm working through the doors in my 55 right now - replacing gaskets, glass, etc. The door latch mechanisms on both doors work, in that they latch, but there's a fair amount of slop in them.

I've not removed the door latch mechanisms from the doors yet and am wondering from those of you who've done this before -

Is the free play normal, and not worth trying to fix or do I stand a chance at being able to tighten things up by removing the Door Latch mechanisms, etc. Are these repair items or should I just buy new ones?
