I know a lot of people have had trouble with ethanol in a lot of different fuel systems. Living here in the corn belt, I have been using ethanol fuel since probably at least as long as I have owned my first Power-Wagon - 1980.
I have had only one fuel pump diaphragm fail during that time, and that was in one of the old original type pumps where everything could be taken apart and rebuilt. The other failure was in a newer pump when the staked pivot shaft fell out (typical of newer pumps).
I may just be lucky and I am knocking on wood here as I type just in case.
Personally I would not trust ANY electrical fuel pump to replace a good old mechanical one. Supplement maybe, but not replace.
