Have you double check to make sure your fuel pump isn't pumping fuel into your crankcase - a known failure mode of these pumps.
When Tim Holloway installed a rebuilt 251 engine into my M37, we eliminated the engine driven pump and went with an electric Facet pump rated for 4-5 PSI, installed on the fram, back near the fuel tank. Not the way to go if you want to keep things all-original, but it's peace of mind that if I do have fuel pump issues, it's not going to destroy my new engine.
It's been working without any issues for 6 or 7000 miles now. As a bonus, starting after it has been sitting a while is easier: I turn on the ignition and let the pump run for a few seconds to bring the fuel up to the carb before starting. I don;t have to crank for as long to get the engine to start.
