Hey Marty. You can't cut through the wood to access the nuts that are hidden by the gas tank? What are folks using to waterproof the wood? Or at least make the finish last longer.
Oops, just reread your post and realized that you don't want to cut the wood out. Luckily, my truck came with no wood, so I have have the dilemma of original vs new. My dilemma is some gorgeous highly figured hardwood, or something that can take a beating.
