Thanks. The goal was to focus first on size (shaft, bore, thickness), then on the various seal lips available in those sizes.
It seems all of the bearing houses around here want to sell me a simple single lip thin Chicago Rawhide seal for all applications. I have never had any luck with single lip seals in any applications. So now I go armed with the part numbers that get me double lip, reinforced (like the originals on our trucks), better lip material, thicker housing to better match the originals, or any combination of the above.
