I am finally getting to installing the winch on my Townie and was laying out the driveline. I assume that it passes under the bell housing cross member. then travels through the 2 pillow blocks and up to the winch. how far below the cross-member should it be? I figure 1/4 inch clearance is enough, but maybe it needs more. also is there a minimum angle at the U-joints or should I just make the run as straight as possible? I still have to make the pillow block mounts, should those be bolted on or welded? any insight will be appreciated.
