According to Form 4702D, from Carter Carburetor Corporation, issued February, 1947, and covering the ET1, ET2, and ET4 CARbureTERs, the part number for that filter element is 30-55S. Also listed is an optional filter element, part number 30-44.
I have seen both long and short elements used. I suspect that the 30-55S was the short element and the 30-44 was the long element (about the length of the similar one you showed an image of).
