Have heard that term before but it doesn't seem to be very common around this region. Maybe used more often on the river barges up and down the Mississippi. Here in the grain belt, there are a lot of descendants of immigrants from Holland, Belgium, Germany, and that general area.
As the world gets smaller, it is interesting to learn that it is not just the dialect that changes by region, but also how much the terminology changes as well.
We don't drink soda here. But we have been known to brush our teeth with baking soda and drink baking soda with water to cure a stomach ache. ;^)
