Rather than weave the flemish eye, I make an eye by splitting the wire rope to the desired length, with the cable vertical I pass the right cable section over the left and continue till to the base of the eye, then wrap the other sectioned cable around the remaining cable section. The cable will rejoin itself making the cable as if it never was separated. this alone will hold as much as the cable originally, but I add either a fist grip clamp(double saddle clamp) or crimp a ferrule to neaten up the ends.
