If your drum has the hole and set screw in the bottom of the drum, 1/2 will may not work, too big, and it's also more difficult to handle, 7/16 is std. and the drum holds 250 feet of cable. If your shear pin is 5/16 in size, the winch is rated at 10,000 pounds, 3/8 chain, rated at Grade 70 would be my choice. Any rigging or hardware store can help out and here's a site that will help with the grading.
