I have heard old-timers refer to refreshing the old paint when they apply mineral oil to the older vehicles paint.
They say the oil penetrates into the old paint and gives it new life.
They refer to the old paint as a"living coating" not like this modern paint that is more like an epoxy coating, it hardens and nothing can be done to it.
